An Alternative backup Route with a Loop Free Routing Table Short Distance in Ad hoc Wireless

چکیده
In a mobile ad hoc wireless networks (MANET), nodes communicate with each other via packet radios. However, in a MANET network, the mobility of the nodes and power limitations lead to an increased loss of connectivity between the mobile nodes when changing the route between nodes, which requires the routing table to be frequently updated. Hence, routing protocol plays an important role in updating the routing table when the nodes move from one area to another. By pre-computing a backup routing table in advance, the source can pass traffic through it without needing to wait for the routing table to be updated from where the failure occurs. This paper proposes a new algorithm, ARTSD (Alternative Routing Table Short Distance), to improve the existing DSDV (Destination Sequenced Distance Vector) protocol by creating a mesh network with different numbers of nodes to provide multiple alternative routes. The ARTSD algorithm determines the adjacent nodes for each node on the primary path and then selects one of these adjacent nodes as the backup next hop according to the least numbers of hops to the destination. The results show that loss of data packets, throughput and end-to-end delay times between source and destination have been improved by avoiding loops on the network. The results show that the new protocol does not degrade network performance by sending extra messages to construct the new backup routing table. A simulation (using an NS2 simulator) was undertaken to demonstrate the difference between using a DSDV protocol with or without the proposed schema.

In recent years, routing has been the most focused area in ad hoc networks research. On-demand routing in particular, is widely developed in bandwidth constrained mobile wireless ad hoc networks because of its effectiveness and efficiency. Most proposed on-demand routing protocols are built and relied on single route for each data session. Whenever there is a link disconnection on the active ro...

The performances of the routing protocols are important since they compute the primary path between source and destination. In addition, routing protocols need to detect failure within a short period of time when nodes move to start updating the routing table in order to find a new primary path to the destination. Meantime, loss of packets and end-toend delays will increase thereby reducing thr...

A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...

An ad hoc wireless network supports data networking without an infrastructure, so that users can use network services while continually moving. Each move of the mobile host affects the topology of the network and the transmission route. The Ad Hoc Backup Node Setup Routing Protocol (ABRP) is proposed to focus attention on the intrinsic properties of the ad hoc wireless networks. Basically, ABRP...

While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...
